Live Performance Tutorial (using Reason)

Synopsis

This demo shows how to use InTime™ to control the tempo of another program running on the same PC in a live performance. We recorded a live jam session with a drummer, playing into InTime™, which in turn controlled the tempo of Propellerhead’s Reason loop-based music creation software. A second musician controlled the sounds of Reason, while a third improvised a piano part.

The drummer’s tempo controlled the overall tempo of the performance. We improvised for a minute or so at a steady tempo. Then the drummer began to gradually increase the tempo, while the other players increased the intensity of the sounds in Reason, and the intensity of the piano part. After the climax, the drummer quickly drops the tempo back to near the original starting tempo.
