Circular Logic is based in Boca Raton, Florida. Boca Raton is famous for being the birthplace of the personal computer, so we thought, "What better place to start a software company?" Unfortunately, IBM, the company that developed the personal computer in Boca Raton, moved out of the area years ago. No matter, it's always warm and sunny here, our main office is a mile from the beach, and the city council has bought the old IBM property is talking about putting in a new golf course.
While the company hasn't been in Boca Raton for a long time, we have been working on tempo tracking for as long as we can remember. At first, the music software establishment said that having a computer follow the beat of music simply by listening to it couldn't be done. And they were right, it couldn't - at the time. But we persevered, and after wearing out dozens of pocket calculators, Moog synths and Shure SM-58s, modern computing power finally allowed us to turn our theories into reality, and, voila, tempo tracking is now available for everyone.
