Goove Tracking Tutorial: Setting Up

We record a blues progression on piano, with InTime tracking the groove. Open the advanced tracking window, and click the groove-tracking toggle. Notice that when groove tracking is enabled, the toggle light on the main window turns blue. The slider to the right of the toggle in the advanced tracking window sets groove tracking sensitivity. In this example, we use a sensitivity of 7. Tempo tracking sensitivity (in the main window) is greyed out, because it has no effect during groove tracking.

The pianist listened to a simple click while playing the rhythm piano part. His starting tempo was 104.

As you play in tempo tracking mode, notice that the tempo display changes a little, but when you stop playing, tempo immediately jumps back to the initial tempo. InTime’s internal representation of the tempo does not change in groove tracking mode, however InTime displays the small tempo fluctuations that will be written in the tempo map to record your groove.
