Circular Logic, LLC Receives Phase II STTR Award from US Air Force
• Company to develop software platform for simulating brains’ perceptual capabilities
Boca Raton, FL, June 18, 2007 -- Circular Logic, LLC, a music software company that markets the InTime Tempo Tracking System™™ for musicians, announced it has been awarded a $732,000 Phase II STTR grant from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The AFOSR-funded project, entitled "A Quantitative Model of Human Dynamic Attention and Perception" will enable the company to develop a new software platform, designed to simulate human auditory perception and attention, moving beyond what can be accomplished with conventional signal processing methods. The technology is intended to simulate the signal processing that is takes place in the human auditory system, reproducing the way the human ear and brain listen respond to sound. Commercial applications of the new technology are expected to include music analysis software, hearing aids and cochlear implants, next-generation speech recognition systems, and advanced human-computer interfaces.
The Air Force Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program grants are the result of a rigorous peer review by leadings scientists, with a focus on the commercial potential of the proposed technology. "AFOSR has signaled its desire to invest in the development of this next-generation technology, based on the results of our previous Phase I work, and we are enormously excited to have their support,” says Dr. Edward Large, founder and President of Circular Logic.
